He had a dog… with a nose like coal…
Fed him meat... from his own bowl...
One night came — hunger in the eyes,
The dog took meat… and the anger lies.
He loved him so!
But the meat won the fight!
The dog took a bite —
Then the world turned white!
The axe came down — through the rain and fog,
"The priest had a dog…" —
And that's the epilogue!
Dug the grave… with a shaking hand,
Beneath the fence… where the pines once stand.
No tear was shed, just the dirt and shame,
He carved the words… and he signed his name.
He loved him so!
But the meat won the fight!
The dog took a bite —
Then the world turned white!
The axe came down — on the sacred log,
"The priest had a dog…" —
Now he digs with the hog!
One year passed… the priest is grey…
He walks the yard… but the dog won't play.
He cannot eat… the meat he roasts…
He hears the ghost…
HE HEARS THE GHOOOOOST!
He loved him so… but the meat won the fight…
The axe came down… in the pale moonlight…
In a shallow grave… on a crooked stone…
"The priest had a dog…"
And he digs… alone...
